Sorry, i don't have a scanner so i could show you this, but i'm stumped by another picture. And i thought this one would be easy because it's Douglas Fairbanks.

In a barroom, a man identified as "Campeau" (presumably Frank) pulls his gun on Doug, who is smiling and touching his face. He's got on leather chaps, a bandanna and a cowboy hat but they are on over a dark suit and white shirt. The bartender with a mustache, identified as Tom Wilson, watches.

I couldn't find anything in IMDB with all three of them in it except Intolerance, and i'm darned sure it isn't that. Any ideas anyone? Those of you more familar with Fairbanksiana than i am, does this scene sound familiar?

The photo says 1915-1916 on the back and the other photos in this set have all been from these years.

When I look at IMDB for what Frank Campeau was in with Doug, the first movie is 1917 (A Modern Musketeer), which is outside your time range (and although it has a bar scene, Doug is in modern dress at that point; Campeau plays a renegade Indian anyway) so maybe "Campeau" is a misidentification?

If you drop out Campeau and just look at Tom Wilsons (there are a boatload of Tom Wilsons! I used Tom Wilson I) IMDB comes up with a series of mostly Westerns that are likely places to start:

Martyrs of the Alamo (1915)
Tom Wilson plays Sam Houston, which seems unlikely for your picture -- Sam Adams was a brewer, but was Sam Houston ever a bartender?

Reggie Mixes In (1916)
Tom Wilson is "The Bouncer," which is possible for a person looking like a bartender, but it doesn't look like this one would have Fairbanks in a cowboy outfit.

The Americano (1916)
Tom Wilson is the caretaker of Doug's office in Patagonia... seems unlikely.

The Half-Breed (1916)
Tom Wilson is "Curson," whoever that is. It's possible. This film has been shown recently at a Cinecon (?), but I haven't seen it.

Do not think so. You'd have spotted THAT outfit.

Wild and Woolly (1917)
Tom Wilson is Casey the Engineer, which doesn't sound likely, and this film is outside your time window.

If you DO get the picture scanned, I know a couple of Fairbanks nuts (the other two people on my Mark of Zorro commentary track) who are as likely as anyone to know the film.

Thanks, Rodney, that's the routine i went through too, and nothing sounded likely. You're right, it's definitely not Mystery of the Leaping Fish! From the half-cowboy outfit over the city suit, it seems like a Wild and Woolly kind of plot, but it's been years since i've seen that an i have no idea if such a scene is in the film--and the Tom Wilson character doesn't sound right, as you pointed out.
