Is there a good biography of Bebe? Her career arc should offer a nice framework for a survey of the big and small screens over half a century.

Just backed it! Guess I have a masthead subject for sometime later this year now in Ms. Daniels.

It's a tremendous amount of lost. However, she worked for Paramount in the 1920s, and that seems to have been their specialty.

But their other specialty--bitter irony--was producing better pictures, on the whole, than any other studio of the time. I've just been watching a number of my favorite William Powells--they're ALL Paramounts! The consequences of his desertion to MGM are immediately apparent in such a film, for ex., as Manhattan Melodrama (1934). (What, am I forgetting The Thin Man? On the contrary, that's what I'm chiefly remembering.)

Back to Bebe--here's a still from The Glimpses of the Moon (1923) that I've never seen before...and I look at an average of a dozen everyday on ebay: (Imagine this in color!)

Perfect! That yet unpublished new bio exploits the same great "good little bad girl" tagline, which I don't remember seeing used before in posters, heralds, other advertising for her pictures. KEEP the blab! How can you top "machine guns won't keep the crowds away"?
