I understand that "All The King's Men" (1949) came out on dvd in 2001 with its own trailer. It was reissued in 2006 with promo material for the remake, 1949 trailer gone. Both copies seem to have a so-so transfer, with little restoration.
The film is not really talked about any more, but its a fine film, almost a noir. Maybe that's because Broderick Crawford is no longer known to today's audiences. I also understand ATKM came out in a giant studio box set, apparently with a new remastering.
Does anyone know the history of this film on dvd? I want to get the best print available.

Here's a listing of links to reviews for the various versions. I have the 2006 re-issue but haven't screened it yet.
