Hollywood Party

Post by westegg » Sat Apr 07, 2012 7:48 am

Can't find any previous topic on this movie, so I'll post this. Just got the WB Archive Disc. I knew the movie was a train wreck going in, but it has one outstanding sequence with Laurel & Hardy and Lupe Velez. Speaking of which, Lupe Velez quite clearly says "You big piece of sh#@!" during a tirade. Amazing how that got through! The disc has bonus audio outakes, including Shirley Ross doing an alternate take (plus being the alternate singer) on the title song. Curious why Ross wasn't used instead.

Because she just an unknown band singer at the time.

HOLLYWOOD PARTY is a hoot. I'll take it just the way it came out.

A hoot it is. Yes the Sequence with Velez, Laurel & Hardy is very good. But I also love leggy Frances Williams singing/dancing the title song.

Also, the trailer for Snarzan always gets me laughing with its "DON'T MISS IT IF YOU CAN!"

We had a whole discussion about this film last year (with a lot about BABES IN TOYLAND thrown in for good measure):
