Just watched this delightful 1931 Rene Clair film. Boy does it play like a silent...with sound. Wonderful use of sound, and music and sound effects, charming story..not a lot of dialog, and some of that appears to be post-syncronized. Its really charming.

Awhile back I purchased this one along with LE MILLION and SOUS LE TOITS DE PARIS. Because I admire René Clair very much. Anyway, I do agree with you about this film, charming characters we can warm up to.
The two latter titles I mention go wonderfully together with this one, even though some critics tend to dismiss LE MILLION as just a noisy chaotic mess.

Time to give À NOUS LA LIBERTÉ another view.
