The movie Cover Up (1949) was listed above. Since the female lead is Barbara Britton, the "Revlon Girl" of television, I decided to get myself a copy.

The Christmas connection starts early, with Barbara trying to carry about a dozen wrapped gifts, plus luggage while leaving a train and transferring to a bus to get home for the holidays. If it explained where she had been, I missed it. There is some time given to purchasing gifts, etc. and there is an enormous tree, laden with decorations. Christmas figures into the plot a little bit in this crime drama with Dennis O'Keefe playing an insurance investigator turned detective in a town where no one will help him investigate a death. William Bendix is the local Sheriff.

The video/audio is in rough shape, but watchable. The cover of the DVD, as shown on Amazon has nothing to do with this film, and is evidently a photo from something else.

Edit: The film is also available at this time on YouTube in six parts.
