For one Preston Sturges film, the star hid her condition to get the part;
in another, a pregnancy set the plot in motion.ImageImage

Believe Normer Shearer was preggo during the making of Let Us Be Gay, a fact concealed, I think, by various props & photographic tricks; they worked--she looked ravishing, as usual.

In some stills from THE PAINTED VEIL that were discarded, shows Greta Garbo with a portruding belly, looking very much pregnant.

There are some books with references about her terminating a few pregnancies.

The marvel Virginia O'Brien is not seen half as much in The Harvey Girls as she ought to have been. Because of her pregnancy, some scenes had to be re-worked and others dropped entirely.

I'm not sure if there's a direct connection, but it seems MGM let her go rather unceremoniously just a couple of years afterwards.

There's the oft-cited story of Shirley Jones hiding her pregnancy with Patrick Cassidy during the filming of The Music Man. While filming the love scene at the footbridge, ("Till There Was You") the baby kicked co-star Robert Preston in the stomach ... hard.

Years later, when Preston met the (then) adult Patrick Cassidy, he punched Cassidy in the gut as a payback.
