Hi gang,

After perusing this month's TCM listings, I realize how deficient my film noir viewing history is. An odd hole in my movie experience, I guess. My DVR is set for multiple recordings.

Relatedly, can anyone recommend a good book that provides an overview of the genre?

Eddie Muller's "Dark City" (1998) is an enjoyable read that is attractively designed and provides a well written overview of
the subject, Eddie has since gone on to do quite a lot more on noir but this is where he started.

Foster Hirsch's The Dark Side of the Screen is pretty solid, too.

Alain Silver has done several books on the subject, from an encyclopedia, to studies of films, and an overview.
