MacEddy Films- Surviving Masters?

Post by Phillyrich » Wed Oct 16, 2013 10:02 am

I just bought Naughty Marietta on a Warner Archive sale. I think this is the transfer from the TCM edition. Previews I saw on the WB web site seem to indicate the image is soft.
Do good masters still exist for these films? I have to wonder why the camera negative for the MGM 1935 "Mutiny On The Bounty" survives, but apparently not the 1935 or later MacEddy films?

Big MGM vault fire destroyed a lot of negs and lavenders (DAVID COPPERFIELD; probably uncut VIVA VILLA!; etc).
