I see that we are getting brand new box sets of Shirley Temple's childhood films--three volumes so far, with six films in each. I never realized she made so many of them c1935-40. Boy, was she busy! The Studio must have seen her as a real cash cow. I wonder if she was Fox's number one revenue generator over Faye and Power?
I notice here at N'ville that there hasn't been much discussion of these films. I'm not so much interested in Shirley, as in the films themselves. It's one aspect of the glorious 1930's storytelling I have yet to discover.
Do people have favorite Shirley Temple films? I see she made a few with Alice Faye. Which are her best films? I recently saw Wee Willie Winkie (1937) and thought that John Ford did a lot with the slim material offered.
Early Shirley... Temple that is.
