Big Time 1929

Post by aldiboronti » Sun Jul 27, 2014 4:19 am

Does anyone know if this early Fox talkie starring Lee Tracy and directed by Kenneth Hawks (brother to Howard) is available anywhere? The author of the solitary IMDB review saw it at the NY Museum of Modern Art in 1979, but he wrote that review some 13 years ago and my hope is that in that time it may have been released to some medium.

As a Lee Tracy fan I've been wanting to see this, his first credited and starring role, for years and my interest was sparked again yesterday as the film is mentioned in Mary Astor's autobiography which I'm currently reading (she was married at the time the movie was made to Kenneth Hawks.)

Something was bothering Me, re, U'r saying, "Lucille wrote about the Film, in Her Book." I thought
Mae klotz (Atlantic City, NJ) appeared w/LT, in "Big Time." Do I err?

I was hoping it might turn up during TCM's Summer Under the Stars' Lee Tracy Day in August, but no dice. But at least I'll be able to catch a few other LT titles I've missed.

I think he's just saying that Lucille/Mary Astor mentions the film in her book, not that she's in it. She mentions it because of her then-husband's connection, Kenneth Hawks

Oh wow, I asked about this film ages ago - dIdnt think there'd be a chance of it actually popping up!

There have been some really really neat publicity photos from this one popping up on ebay too lately, really worth a look for Tracy fans
