A while back when logging on to the above site, I realised that the layout had changed. Although I can still find some titles the long-winded way, I haven't been able to work out how to do a search for a particular actor, director, film or year, probably due to my being a bit thick in that department. A nudge in the right direction would be appreciated...

I suspect also that some films have been taken off the site on account of still being under copyright.

I've been researching a few Network Radio Dramas there recently, and don't find the new set up better.

I made a donation to them(and Wiki) back at Christmas time. I went down my list of material from archive I think is copyright but it may have run out on the material. Hulu is trying to get in on the archive genre too. I found some excellent material on the history of The US Air Force and it feature General Benjamin Foulois whom I knew had been personally taught to fly by the Wright Brothers. I could not believe the in-color quality of the Foulois material on Hulu and Foulois has been deceased since 1967. Going back to Archive.com, all of the films etc. on my list is there and more. One famous aviation film, both versions, are there. I won't give the names out for fear they'll somehow be dropped. "Beggars of Life"(1928) is the only silent I've seen ever dropped from Archive; though it was a bad print. But between Archive, Hulu, Youtube and their like, it couldn't be better. I love history & movies, some great material on these sites.

Gad, what a disaster. Why do web designers continue to dumb-down these sites? Everything is now is I-Phone layout.

Don't visit the YOURS TRULY JOHNNY DOLLAR pages. The way they now have a separate line for each format, the Johnny Dollar five-parters have 15 listings each!

I agree, the same thing has happened to grooveshark, NY Public Library Theatre section and I hate it. Why can't they leave well-enough alone.

Also AltaVista. That's what happened when they started tweaking that website. It was set up like a Yellow Pages phone book, pure informational and was better. Then they started chasing Yahoo and Google adapting their colors and so forth. all down hill after that.

Yippee! Just found out how to do it. Google 'Archive. org' followed by film title / actor / director / date and that will get you there. Some titles have been pulled, presumably ones not supposed to be there.

You can also do a google javasearch when you're on the web page. First create a (re-usable) browser link with the url address:

After you open the "internet archive" web site (or any site, for that matter) click the link you've created; it will open a search box; type in the search terms and it will return all possible search results within that website. Someone posted this solution for an old website where the search function no longer worked.

Because continual tampering justifies their names continuing to appear on the payroll. To announce "this site has been perfected & cannot be improved" would be the equivalent of asking for a pink slip; thus the dumbing-down is self-perpetuating.
