Anybody Heard of This Production Company?

Post by johndoe63 » Thu Mar 31, 2016 8:38 pm

I'm trying to identify the producer of a particular film, of which I am currently selling on 'The Exchange'. I have been unable to find out any other information about it. Anybody know?

Maybe, but I am not familiar of his company being called 'powers pictures', especially not as late as 1931

The IMDB lists Wardour Films/British International Pictures as the original production company and distributor. I wonder if Powers Pictures re-issued it a few years later?

According to material found on the Media History Liberry, it was indeed Patrick A. Powers of Powers Pictures on Vine Street in Hollywood. He had an output deal with BIP but eventually went bankrupt in '33 after claiming that the pictures BIP were providing were not the "type or quality agreed on." This would seem to be one of those films.

Litigation followed.
