How does the "group mind" feel about this film?
Required pre-Code viewing, or is it just a sad penultimate last film for Clara?

I haven't seen it. It does seem to be available on the gray-market. Any suggestions on the best version available?

It shows up on the Fox Movie Channel pretty frequently, although I don't see it listed in December or January.

I love this movie and it's worth seeing (for me anyway) for 3 reasons:

1. Clara is wearing a very light white shirt in the film that you can see her nipples right through it.
2. The cat fight scene between Clara and Thelma Todd.
3. Thelma Todd.

Clara seems pretty confident in it, and it's pretty well directed. An added plus is the Pansy cafe scene.

Father: Why are you whipping that man?
Clara: I'm practicing in case I ever get married.....

or something to that affect... It's a terrific pre-Coder. And Clara Bow is sensational in it.

Love it! One of my favorite pre-codes, and surely Clara's best talkie.

Clearly, the consensus is that this is a film that needs to be put out there on DVD!

Yes this should be on DVD... it's a terrific pre-Coder and proves that Clara Bow was a solid talkie actress.... she goes through all the steps here: from the sly sexual innuendo to the all-out weepie segments. Probably only a handful of actresses of the time could have pulled this off. Barbara Stanwyck? Evelyn Brent? Kay Francis? Claudette Colbert?

As usual, William K. Everson made one of the most pointed comments about this curious film, noting that if Clara Bow had actually taken up streetwalking, it's hardly likely that her first two clients would be Walter Long and Bert Roach.

Who would they be, then? Charlie Sheen and Nick Nolte?

I think Long and Roach were perfect choices if the filmmakers were trying to de-glamorize streetwalking as a profession.
