What took you so long? :P

It was such a cable staple during the '80s; where to begin? For me the highlight was Crawford/Dunaway slapping the hell out of her snippy teen daughter.

Funnily enough, I actually projected it when it first came out as I was a projectionist in a theatre in Ireland at the time - but, I only ever got to actually watch small snatches at that time.

Even last night I missed the beginning - just came upon it while channel hopping.

But.....yeuuuuucccchhhh!!

For what it's worth, I think Dunaway always blamed this film for ruining her career.

Don't you feel guilty now?

No other film, not even Golden Dawn, gives me more pleasure.

That's not to say it's a good film. It's not.

But it is extremely entertaining: Crawford's life as a post-MGM Crawford movie, replete with the younger woman as the antagonist.

I'm sensing a trend.

Really? You guys think Dunaway really looked like Crawford in that film? Great impression, but hardly the same looks. Wrong eyebrows completely, Dunaway's cheekbones are too high, she has differently shaped eyes, too broad a nose, and Crawford's lips were really full as opposed to Dunaway's painted-on monstrosities.

I find both the film and the book total trash... completely surpassing bad, past "so-bad-it's-good," zooming by "bizarre" and simply back into "unwatchably bad." I still can't tell to this day whether or not the film is supposed to be serious or tongue-in-cheek.

There is a rumor that Joan Crawford is waiting just inside the pearly gates for Faye Dunaway to arrive. She is dressed in her Mildred Pierce fur coat and has been practicing her "Veda smack". Ouch!!!
