Max Factor biography

This book may be old news to some, but I just finished a very interesting biography of Max Factor, who specialized in creating makeup for movies and television. A fascinating story of a man who fled Czarist Russia in 1904, saw an opportunity where others did not, and flourished as a result.

The author is Fred Basten, who some years ago also wrote "Glorious Techicolor," a history of the Technicolor company. Very well written, with plenty of interesting photos. Did you know that Max Factor has his own star on Hollywood Boulevard, and that he did the makeup for Pete the Pup in the Our Gang shorts (the black "bullseye" around one eye)?

The book, which originally retailed for $25, is now available for $4 as a publisher's overstock from Hamilton Books at www.hamiltonbook.com -- just type "Max Factor" in the Search box to see it. SETH
Please don't call the occasional theatrical release of an old movie a "reissue." We do not say "The next time you go to the Louvre, you will see a re-issue of the Mona Lisa.” -- Cecil B. DeMille

Great price but Hamilton Books(CT) do not ship outside USA which also must mean even to neighbor Canada. Pity.
