more info on CANNONS, photographer 1930's

Post by cawkercitykid » Thu Oct 18, 2012 6:44 am

I am trying to find out more information about a photographer named Cannons. All I have to go on is his stamp on the back of a photo from "Cross Streets" which was released Jan. 22, 1934 by Invincible Pictures Corp. Without a first name, I have been unable to find anything on the internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

His first name was George, and his best work was for Mack Sennett in the 1920s.

Cannons was British, and returned to the UK in the '30s. He worked for Powell/Pressburger under George Cannon.

I am a bit confused. Is George Cannon the same as George Cannons? I ran across the director's name, but because of the missing "s" thought it was a different person.

Same still photographer. He dropped the 's' in his name sometime in the late '30s. He moved back to the UK in the early '30s.

So far, I found out that George Frederic Cannons was born about 1898 in England and came to the U.S. in 1923. He married an American (Ruby) and they had at least four children (Annie, Robert, Winfred, and Harry). They lived in Burbank, California.

Thanks for the help!

He lived at 930 Lima St. in Burbank in 1931, when he was involved in a car accident at Alameda and Hollywood Way in Burbank. He also worked at the Pom Pom Cafe helping selecting bathing beauties for a musical revue they were putting on.
