I get the feeling that some people here have bought copies of public domain LoC films and keep them at home in their private collections and don't do much with them. If some such people are inclined to sell copies of these films to those of us who cannot afford to pay $800 for a copy of a 35mm film, I can see two possible alternatives.
One. Those who have electronic copies of LoC PD films, make sharp copies onto flash drives or disks and sell them on eBay for $50 a copy. I see a few guys selling really blurry copies of PD movies on eBay, so sharper copies should do well.
Two. If you don't like eBay, make your own movie from your LoC copies at Createspace.com, an amazon subsidiary for making DVD copies of movies. They give a you a free ASIN, you pick your own price point, and there are no setup charges. You can choose to not release on Amazon.com, and release it only on the Createspace.com site.

In both cases, be sure to include copies of the copyright search reports and whatever paperwork you get when you buy a copy of a film from LoC so buyers can avoid problems involving donor restrictions. You can also let us know on this site what movies you are releasing, as a few people have done.
Myself, I am tired of 3rd generation copies of good films where I can barely make out the faces in the film

It's just a pity that they will be mute. I've asked for some advice on getting a score without too much trouble in a separate thread.
In silent film, no-one can hear you scream.
