I'd love to see this film but I believe it's lost. With a title like that, it has to be good:

What a great title! No one would use it now; it is so of it's period.

BTW this has a Gymplaine McIntyre review on imdb. I'm not complaining about those anymore; it seems petty just to have imdb take them down.

BELIEVE ME XANTIPPE was actually played on the Broadway stage by John Barrymore, the first of several ex-Barrymore stage/or film roles Paramount set Reid up to play

This in a way is interesting. Was Paramount trying to set Reid up as another Barrymore? Many of Barrymore's early screen comedies were rereleased by the company under "Paramount Success Series", sort of the company celebrating it's early cinema successes. Also Paramount suffered several fires of theri early material and quite often early features were irretrievably lost. At the time of Believe Me Xantippe w/ Reid(1918 and look who the director is!) Barrymore was still making films for Paramount on the East Coast, all lost except THE INCORRIGBLE DUKANE(1915) and DR JEKYLL & MR HYDE(1920). His increasing stage fame coincided with his early work for Paramount and perhaps the company thought that they could mold Reid the same way.

Barrymore roles that probably should've been remade with Wally Reid but probably wasn't due to his increasing drug dependency or crowded filming schedule;

KICK IN(1922; print returned from Russia to US in 2010) This film starred Bert Lytell and is a nice acting part that would've had Reid display serious acting chops.

LET'S GET MARRIED (1926 starring Richard Dix, is actually a remake of Barrymore's 1914 film THE MAN FROM MEXICO. Silentera.com says the film was originally planned for Fatty Arbuckle but probably got canned because of the scandal.)
