BULLDOG DRUMMOND (1922)

After co-starring in The Restless Sex with Marion Davies in 1920, Carlyle Blackwell went to England where he starred in the screen's first Bulldog Drummond film. The film is presumed lost so far as I can tell.

Blackwell remained in England and continued working in Anglo-Euro films through 1930. A few like She and The Wrecker survive. He produced (with Michael Balcon) The Lodger in 1927. His German film of The Hound of the Baskervilles (the last silent Sherlock Holmes film, was found in Poland in 2004 but, so far as I know, has never surfaced.

Here's a blog article I wrote this week. https://silentroomdotblog.wordpress.com ... blackwell/" target="_blank" target="_blank
