Maria Marten (1935): rare Argentinian poster

Post by todmichel » Sun Dec 18, 2011 4:14 pm

I recently bought an original Argentinian poster of the British movie "Maria Marten, or The Murder in the Red Barn" (1935, directed by Milton Rosmer, and starring Tod Slaughter and Eric Portman). The Argentinian title is LA GRANJA MACABRA. It's a very beautiful poster, reminiscent of the "blood and thunder" Victorian melodramas. Unfortunately they forgot to mention Tod Slaughter on the poster (!) but this is a minor defect, as he is shown in the artwork in two crucial scenes from the movie: the digging in the barn, and the final chatiment.
The local distributor, credited on the poster, was Transocean Film.
This poster isn't dated but is visibly from the Thirties.
Has anybody any knowledge of other Argentinian releases of Tod Slaughter movies, and what were their local titles? Of course, books exist about the Argentinian movies, but not - apparently - on foreign films released in Argentina...
I sent a mail some months ago to Argentinian Film Archives but didn't get any answer.

Materials from these Tod Slaughter movies are excruciatingly rare. Some years ago, however, I found the Italian "manifesto" of "Lo strangolatore". This post-war 2 release being "Crimes at the Dark House" (1940). And this time, Tod was credited!
