Interesting Audio Website of "Lost" TV

Post by westegg » Fri Dec 30, 2011 3:07 pm

atvaudio.com has 12,000 audio recordings that are the only surviving broadcast record of otherwise missing or destroyed video. An interesting parallel to missing movies that have surviving Vitaphone discs. It's remarkable (if not surprising) how much early TV was junked or left to rot. These soundtracks are all the more tantalizing given their own survival.

It's just a guy who spent a lot of time recording sound of television, his prices for copies are frankly a bit exhorbitant.

Ah, okay. I didn't check prices. Still, the fact much are the only existing record seems significant.

By the way, as a kid during 1966-1969 I recorded reels and reels of TV broadcast, commercials and all. Do I have any bids?

:P

Not to mention that a lot of his "lost" broadcasts aren't. You can buy a video/audio copy of The Scene Stealers for a fraction of the cost of his audio-only copy.
