I imagine several people here collect movie photos and stills, vintage originals and/or reproductions. What are some of the sellers you recommend? Of course there's always ebay but they have really gone downhill in the last several years due to their fees and loops they make sellers jump through, a lot of great sellers have either abandoned it or rarely list anymore and many that remain ask for big prices.
Shops and stores that sell reproduction photos are easier to find but it appears that there are fewer of them around today than there were twenty years ago. There's still the venerable Movie Star News of New York http://moviestarnews.com/" target="_blank that still sells color 8x10s for the same price they did in the mid 1990's, $5.00 each (B&W photos are now also $5.00 each - in the "old days" B&W repros sold for less than color ones but now it appears everyone sells B&W and color at the same price). I haven't bought from them in years though although their service was very good as were the stills. Their website has images of nearly all of the pictures they have available which is a very good thing.
I see via a websearch that Stephen Sally also of New York is still around and I bought from them a few times back in the 1990's but their little website doesn't say anything about current prices. Anybody buy from them lately?
Jerry Orlinger's also in New York used to have big tabloid-like catalogs that described their photos though they did not have images you could get a good idea of what you were buying. Are they still around?
Has anybody bought from Eddie Brandt's Saturday Matinee in North Hollywood? Their website says they will do searches and that they have a huge inventory but no price range is mentioned.
The Movie Market in California has a terrific website showing their inventory http://www.moviemarket.com/" target="_blank and absolutely gorgeous color photos as well as nice b&w ones. Their stills sell for $5.99 each.
