Oliver Hardy is not in drag.

The only thing I can think of is that one of them, possibly Laurel, might be pictured elsewhere in the photo. (On the left? Hard to tell for sure on a tiny phone screen).

There's a seam down the middle of the frame, covered by the equipment. Notice how the building in the background has impossible geometry.

I see the crooked building but what I find bizarre is the two co-directors wearing identical clothes in a very chummy pose.

I think Nick deserves a little treat for finding the right answer.

Well the building may look odd, but not sure if that is it. That being it wouldn't seem to match what is hinted at in the image description. I was looking for a doubled up person also but couldn't see one, the image is kind of small to check faces. I hunted around and couldn't find a larger image to review.

Check out the last paragraph of this description of Should Married Men Go Home? by Richard Bann:

Now that's a picture I'm certain I have not seen.

The director at the far left is actually Charles McGraw, from the future.

And that must be a cell phone he's holding in his hand.

Sorry for doubting you Nick, you were right. I asked Richard Bann about this and it is a composite. You can see Chet Brandenburg twice in the pic: once at the furthest left and once on the right under the window sill (I think). Looks like the guy next to Chet on the left is also on the right between the two directors.
