Morbidity aside, I had imagined Carmen dancing energetically as in her 40s Fox films. But seeing the actual footage I'm surprised to see her movements rather restrained. Perhaps she was a goner with or without the dancing.

The incident happens very near the end at about 24 minutes. Most likely she felt felt some weakness and a slightly giddy sensation, but she recovers very quickly and may not have been completely aware of what happened. (I've had angina, and passed out due to malfunctioning blood pressure medication, so I can make a good guess)

Sad about Carmen Miranda.

In the MGM animated SS
Baby Puss (1943) Tom the
Cat moves in his diaper to
the beat of Mamae Eu Quero.

archive.org has expanded their
silent film section. Whether free
or purchased anyone
who wants to learn more about
the silent era is not at a loss for
material anymore (like I was when
I started).
