Laurel & Hardy on MeTV

Post by Jim Reid » Fri Jan 11, 2013 7:09 pm

I just saw a promo on MeTV for Laurel & Hardy films. I went to the schedule for Sunday afternoon and found several shorts and Way Out West scheduled to run from 2pm till 6pm central time. Don't know if this has been talked about before. It's the first I've seen of it.

I've seen the promo and am looking forward to the L & H fest on Sunday. Due to the fact I watch Me-TV on WZME, the regular Sunday morning showing of the Boys' films gets bumped for infomercials. This will be a treat for us.

I caught part of the program last night after switching from Retro TV's broadcast of THE SOUPY SALES SHOW (1978)

The prints are gorgeous, but the constant ME TV watermark in the picture is unwanted if you are recording.

They ran THE MUSIC BOX and SCRAM besides WAY OUT WEST.

WAY OUT WEST was the old 1980's restoration prepared for the colorized version. In fact it looked like the color version copied in black and white and "tweaked" digitally with more black and grey tones.

Unfortunately, MOVIES! has very little coverage, especially when compared with Me-TV. Those of us who only have the latter are hoping the network has more runs of L & H to come in the future.

MeTV does not have Stan & Babe showing on their fall schedule, unfortunately. I wrote to them to find out whether they still have the rights to show the films, but no response back.
