Harold Lloyd on TCM - new locations
Re: Harold Lloyd on TCM - new locations
Hey, look.... there's the same bum we saw in that Keaton flick!
(Just kidding! Only last night I was trying to figure out where else I'd seen the one-eyed bum from Caught in a Cabaret.)

John, I love your discoveries. Such great stuff. Years ago I tried to figure out, with the help of city directories and a commercial businesses map, where each stage of the Safety Last climb was shot. It's completely fascinating to me to see how far you've gone with that notion to reveal the secret movie history of LA and the ghosts that walk its streets.

Re: Harold Lloyd on TCM - new locations
When are they going to put a plaque up at that alleyway? Seeing it in real life knocked me out almost as much as seeing the Paramount Gate or the Music Box steps.
When I saw it, they were in the process of knocking down the building on the right at the end of the alleyway (or whatever had replaced it in the years since). I guess this discovery also means that the cart in Safety Last! took a similar route to the cart Buster rode in Cops, in the scene where he signals to turn and the dog bites his hand?
Great work!

Great discoveries, John. One of my favorite parts of your research is seeing how the different comedians covered so much of the same territory for filming locations.SilentEchoes57 wrote:In honor of TCM’s broadcast tomorrow of Safety Last! and By the Sad Sea Waves.
