San Francisco, CA: S.F. Silent Film Festival
San Francisco, CA: S.F. Silent Film Festival
The program is announced for the S.F. Silent Film Festival.
Includes some obscure and some great films. Looking forward to Half Breed and (if we can make it in time) Prix de Beauté.
Mont Alto will be premiering three scores, for Gribiche (we've recorded it, of course, but never played live), Safety Last, and The Patsy.

Looks like I'll be spending a lot of time at the Castro Theater that weekend. Very exciting lineup!

The House at Trubnaya Square was at the Australian Silent Film Festival a few years back, a very interesting and unusual Russian production. Particularly enjoyable if you tend to find films from that time and place a little on the preachy side.

Yes, for me this is a very good schedule. Either films I haven't seen, or don't mind seeing again.
I'll be booking my flight this week.

What a superb and truly international programme. Very impressive. Too bad I can't make it.

Re: San Francisco, CA: S.F. Silent Film Festival
Here's part 1 of the recap for the festival.
http://strictly-vintage-hollywood.blogs ... al_22.html
It was great to see a few Nitratevillians including Lokke Heiss, Greta de Groat, Thomas Gladsyz, Frank Thompson and I missed getting a few minutes with Rodney (you guys were fabulous!). Had a great time, even with my pre-festival grumbling about some of the films programmed. Everything I saw I thoroughly enjoyed.
Best thing to happen all weekend, to finally, three years later, get out of the doghouse about snubbing Lokke in 2010. He can get further revenge if I can manage to get to Pordenone in 2014, then he can snub me!
