Help! I need an easily available car-related cartoon!
Help! I need an easily available car-related cartoon!
I'm hosting a movie night for my fellow antique car owners. We are going to watch the PBS documentary "Horatio's Drive: America's First Roadtrip." I thought it might be fun to show a cartoon before the feature, so if anyone can think of any readily available cartoon (on dvd) that might be car-related, please let me know. Heck, I'm open to any ideas!
Thanks, ya'll

This website http://www.inkwellimagesink.com/pages/c ... ell1.shtml has a nice early-twenties Max Fleischer Out of the Inkwell Cartoon called The Automobile Ride.

Donald Duck in one of his greatest performances, Donald's Tire Trouble (1943) — Oscar-worthy scenery chewing! Similar to Chaplin's One A.M., this is a one-man (or one-duck) show, though you might say that the troublesome car is his co-star.

Disney's Susie the Little Blue Coupe is the first cartoon that came to mind for me. You could also show a comedy short, like Roscoe Arbuckle and Buster Keaton in The Garage.

Or Harold Lloyd's GET OUT AND GET UNDER, which is a lot of fun.s.w.a.c. wrote:Disney's Susie the Little Blue Coupe is the first cartoon that came to mind for me. You could also show a comedy short, like Roscoe Arbuckle and Buster Keaton in The Garage.

Library of Congress has a very nice 35mm print of IN MY MERRY OLDSMOBILE.

It's not a cartoon, but still a delightful film featuring a very special car:

In My Merry Oldsmobile is one of the YouTube videos posted higher in this thread. Blackhawk sold it on 8mm and 16mm; I have a print of it.Jay Schwartz wrote:Another Fleischer cartoonis the singalong "In My Merry Oldsmobile." Not sure about availablility; it's out there somewhere!

Doesn't feature vintage vehicles (though it is from 1966), but might raise a smile or two:
