That was lovely. No one does these better than TCM.

Thanks for posting this. It was beautifully done. I'd love to know where some of those theater locales were shot.

Someone posted on TCM's facebook page that it was shot at the Lyric Theatre in Birmingham, AL.

Hell, I didn't realize Jon Finch had died. Bummer.

And his film The Final Programme, directed by Robert "Phibes" Fuest, has just been released on DVD in the UK too.

TCM will have to re-do it - with all the important deaths that have occurred now in December!

It's a pity Giuliano Gemma didn't get a look in, he cropped up in Ben Hur,The Leopard, To Rome With Love and was the star of 4 of 5 top grossing films in Italy in 1965 and remained a big draw in Italy in westerns. He sold enough tickets to get a mention!

TCM does such a better job on remembering people than the Oscars do..I actually just saw it so I'm writing this through my tears! Wow we lost a lot of folks this year! I don't think I knew Jon Finch had passed...Seeing James Gandolfini gets me every time ...he left us way to soon...and then the great Peter O'Toole ...back to the kleenex!

They have added Eleanor Parker, Tom Laughlin, Joan Fontaine, and Peter O'Toole to the reel.

Since the update the link at the top doesn't work. Here's the current one.

Besides the additions missdupont mentioned, Audrey Totter has been added.

Let's give it up for TCM and their ability to turn on a dime. Big snaps.

Re Jon Finch - he was found dead at home earlier in the year. He hadn't worked in a long while. A pity he never quite 'made it' when he had such potential as a young actor.

That was something of a mystery, since he had looks, talent, and opportunity. According to his obits he just didn't have much ambition--he was perfectly happy working once a year. The roles he turned down were juicy but he didn't seem to have any regrets over them. Well, there ya go, it looks like he had fun.
