Kennel Murder Case prints...dog-eared?

Post by Phillyrich » Mon Mar 17, 2014 9:32 am

I'd like to get a dvd of the KENNEL MURDER CASE, but it seems most dvds are public domain from
inferior prints.

I realize this is a 1933 movie, but can anyone recommend a nice quality dvd, utilizing good source materials?

You can get the official DVD through Warner Archive's pack Philo Vance Murder Case Collection.

Philly Rich: The Roan DVD, made from a 35mm print, is quite nice.

TCM has this movie on Wednesday, March 19 @ 11:15 PM (ET).

I recorded the movie and watched some of it later. Some scenes looked fine, others looked a little washed out. At times, you could see speckling and slight signs of print damage. A film restoration would clear up these problems. To me, it looked like TCM used a 16mm print source to make the recording for this movie. Pretty good quality but not up to the video quality of most other early 1930s movies that TCM airs.
