"You Go To My Head" is stuck in my head as I finally got ahold of the sheet music. It was written in 1938 by J. Fred Coots.
Does anyone know if this song appeared in a film of that era? I can't recall it.
It is a very sophisticated, harmonically complex song--but supremely evocative in both the words and the music. Seems perfect for a lost-love film. Could have worked in "Laura."
Is this song in any film: "You Go To My Head"

Wow. Thanks for the info. I'll have to use that advanced search for many songs. This song must have really moved a lot of people. (I thought I heard it somewhere in Laura...confirmed.)

Re: Is this song in any film: "You Go To My Head"
I first heard this song sung by Dennis Day off a recording of a broadcast show - probably the Jack Benny programme. I remember being quite impressed with it at the time.

Re: Is this song in any film: "You Go To My Head"
The earliest recording is with Nan Wynn (I think) with Teddy Wilson. Like Holiday's too and Bea Wayne with Larry Clinton.
Frank Sinatra's 1945 recording captures the feeling better than anyone. It was actually one of his biggest (now neglected) hit records.

I always get the melodies for "You Go to My Head" and "I Wished on the Moon" mixed up. They're both great songs.

Re: Is this song in any film: "You Go To My Head"
The song is quoted/referenced in the lyrics to Danny Kaye's "Anatole of Paris" number in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty:
I'm Anatole of Paris,
I must design,
I'm just like wine:
I go to your head ...
I'm Anatole of Paris,
I must design,
I'm just like wine:
I go to your head ...
