Why don't you just get a blu-ray player? You can find them for about $50.

You can play all your DVDs on a blu-ray player. In fact, they have up-convert technology that makes your old DVDs look much better. You don't have to re-buy everything on blu-ray, although when you see the quality, you might want to do it anyway.
