Most movies in one year....

Post by Mbakkel2 » Wed Jan 07, 2015 10:04 am

Does anybody know the name of the actor who has appeared in most films during one year? Thank you very much!

It's probably Lafe McKee. He made as many as 50 movies, mostly Westerns, in some years. His IMDb register isn't nearly complete!

I suspect it's some porn star.

Bess Flowers appeared in dozens of movies every year during her Hollywood career, but mostly in bit parts such as dress extra, sales clerk, or passerby, with little or no dialogue to deliver. Does that count?

Forgot about Bess Flowers. Yes, she probably appeared in more movies than anyone else, and possibly appeared in more movies in one year than anyone else I can think of.

In the early '70s Elliott Gould seemed to be in every other movie.

Not even close to John Bunny's 47 movies in 1913. Or Mabel Normand's 59 in 1912. Or the 148 films that D.W. directed in 1909 of which he wrote 108.

True, but they were shorts. Still, did they ever have a day off?

Didn't Clark Gable appear in 12 in 1931 or so?

those were shorts. I think the OP should have been more specific as to whether it be a person starring in a feature, a short. Is it a silent, talkie, modern film what? I remember going over Philip Riley's book on Chaney's "London After Midnight" and Chaney being the star was need every day of the shooting script while the Polly Morans or Claude Kings were only sparsely needed. Compson being in nine films in one year is significant because she was the star and most likely needed for all the scenes. Bebe Daniels and Clara (gosh look at the starrers for her in 1925 alone). And there were others.
