I was wondering whether anyone knew of purchasable piano rolls (or music recorded from piano rolls)
for some major silent movies such as Phantom of the Opera. It might be interesting to turn off the music on the DVD and play the piano roll.....

Film Forum had a recording piano about twenty years ago for some silent shows. The accompanist would play for the show and later shows would have the piano tinkling along. It was. A modern variety, using CDs. Ben Model also offers some alternate sound tracks.
