French Charlie Bowers Blu-Ray

Post by bigshot » Tue Dec 01, 2015 12:16 pm

After waiting over six months for it to come in stock, Amazon.fr has finally shipped the Charlie Bowers short collection to me. I'll report on it here when it arrives.

Good news! The Bowers set arrived yesterday. I've only had a chance to look at a couple of the films, but it is amazing. Beautiful HD transfers from nice elements that derive from France. Very well done piano scores. The disk asks language (French/English) as you start it, and then all the menus are translated and there are subtitles for the French inter titles. Best of all, the package says the blu-ray is region free (the DVDs are PAL). Bowers was a drop dead genius. So many films here that I've never seen before. I'm going to devour this disk over the weekend.

Is there anything new on the french set that's not on the Image set?

The Blu-Ray includes everything from the old DVD, plus There It Is, which isn't on the Image set.

Thanks for the heads up on this! I searched the US Amazon site, and there are copies available there, believe it or not:

No sign of it on Amazon.ca, but I did find a recent reproduction of the Bowers Mother Goose Movie Book with flip-book-style animations by Bowers.
