I wouldn't have guessed who she was. I just found out by searching, so I won't tell.

I was just watching her last night, but she was older....

Right-click, "Search Google with this image"...
I got the answer in seconds. And it's quite a surprise.

It is indeed surprising. I never knew she was such a looker when young.

Click on the link to the picture.

Go to the Internet connection window (the address that begins with "www.http....." and copy that.

Paste that into your Google Search window. When you hit the button to search, you'll get a message that you can search for the image. Do so.

My God, to think such a nice old lady was once a hot tart. So now I'm wondering about about Eugenie Besserer?

Thanks Bob. When you have more time, maybe you'll be willing to explain to me how the internet works.

I think saying saying "Drizzle drazzle drezzle drome" helps.

Wow - she was a looker, all right. The actress I'd really like to see a youthful picture of is Beryl Mercer.

or Alison Skipworth, circa 1904
it was up at ebay but they sold it and or minimized the display pic

Certainly "will do," but not exactly "hot tart" material.

There's a book on the Marx Brothers by Simon Louvish which offers a 1909 photo of Margaret Dumont, back when she was a showgirl known as "Daisy." She stares directly into the camera lens with a 'Hey, Big Boy' look. In her earliest movie appearances Mme. Dumont was still a handsome woman, but young Daisy Dumont was startlingly attractive.

P.S. Perhaps someone with more technical know-how than I possess can append the photo to this thread. In any event it can be found at Google images, using the search phrase Margaret Dumont young.

Not the 'Hey, Big Boy' look, but close to the same year. Undoubtedly had her share of Stage-Door Johnnies. (In fact, that was about the same time young Billy Hearst was a regular at all the best stage-doors.)

And here's a lady I much admire, also on the stage but about a decade later, who preserved her looks a little more successfully:

1. she was good friends with Olivier.
2. she played a mother superior in a famous 1965 film.

I won't be impressed until someone comes up with an undoctored photo that proves Blanche Payson was once a great hottie.

Reminds me of a conversation in my shop which centred around the likes of Irene Handl, Doris Hare, Peggy Mount, Dandy Nicholls, etc, on the lines of "Who played the charlady in...." Luckily we weren't overheard, but at leas this shows that discussions of this kind are not confined to Blighty.

Shall look forward to some 'cheesecakes' of Blanche Payson and Beryl Mercer...

I'm guessing Gladys Cooper given it looks like a vintage British postcard and there are countless dozens of those of the young GC.

Alice Brady was a very attractive lady - even as she grew more mature. A shame she died so young.
