Re: Milestone's Silent Cinema Sale
Some excellent bargains to be had, but be aware that shipping is kind of high. I had five titles in the cart and the cost of shipping was $12 for the cheapest option, Priority Mail, over $2 more per disc. It would be nice if you offered Media Mail.

Kwitcher complainin' and count yer blessin's. It cost nearly $18 to ship to Canada.Professor Echo wrote:Some excellent bargains to be had, but be aware that shipping is kind of high. Which, speaking as a fellow Canadian, isn't bad at all for a multiple DVD order from the U.S. Basically, we're lucky to get anything under $20, and with bargains like these, I can't complain either.Jim Roots wrote:Kwitcher complainin' and count yer blessin's. Right, but I should add that the $18 shipping fee is in American dollars. It could work out as high as $23 in Canadian bucks.s.w.a.c. wrote:Which, speaking as a fellow Canadian, isn't bad at all for a multiple DVD order from the U.S. Basically, we're lucky to get anything under $20, and with bargains like these, I can't complain either.Jim Roots wrote:Kwitcher complainin' and count yer blessin's. As mentioned earlier, I bought 4 discs anyway, none of which I would have bought without the sale. Dennis has done fantastic work over the years and I have no qualms about supporting his efforts with my devalued loonies and toonies.

Sorry about the shipping costs in the US. We have a new shipping program installed and Shopify is trying to add Media Mail for us.
For Canada, that's just the dumb-assed USPS who quadrupled rates over the past few years so the bulk shippers wouldn't have to pay more to send people six Lands End catalogs.

It's out of your hands, Dennis, so don't worry about it. We're used to it up here.milefilms wrote:Sorry about the shipping costs in the US. We have a new shipping program installed and Shopify is trying to add Media Mail for us.

Recently I bought a paperback book through abebooks.com for only $1.97. Shipping cost: $19.99 !! They could have shoved it inside an envelope and sent it by regular mail for about a buck!

Re: Milestone's Silent Cinema Sale
I've already thanked Dennis privately for implementing a Media Mail option for shipping from his site, but also felt it was important to publicly express my appreciation for the effort, plus further endorse all of the contributions Milestone makes on behalf of cinephiles the world over. I am consistently supportive of them, sales or no sales, but with limited discretionary income, every bit of savings helps. I already placed one order from the current sale (in order to secure BEYOND THE ROCKS, which is apparently in dwindling supply) and am planning a second order. I encourage everyone to add to their silent film library by taking advantage of these bargains before the sale expires seven days from today.milefilms wrote:Sorry about the shipping costs in the US. Thanks for posting this. Finally got the Charley Chase collection I had my eye on.
Re: Milestone's Silent Cinema Sale
And thank you, all! Every purchase is contributing not only to the archives and producers who supplied us with the films, but it's also paying for the next restorations.
Best,
Dennis

Sure! I just have to give my 1999 Camry a new paint job and add a few dodads and it's going to look EXACTLY like Chris Rock's bright yellow Lamborghini that used to drive through our town. (Note: that's through our town)Jim Roots wrote: And for your Lamborghini.

Wow, I thought I had all of your silent offerings and I found a handful I didn't have that were on sale. So I'm glad I checked and made sure.

Re: Milestone's Silent Cinema Sale
A belated 'thank you' to Dennis for he Milestone silent film sale, and a slight genial reprimand for not including more of the early Russian film set.
Re: Milestone's Silent Cinema Sale
The other Early Russian Cinema films are limited DVD-R editions because they don't sell nearly as well. (Volume 3 and Volume 7 are DVDs because we sell five times more of them.)
But we'll take it to heart and perhaps one day.
