Lon Chaney Phantom

Post by Rudyfan83 » Tue Oct 04, 2016 10:50 pm

Hello everybody!

I'm making a video for my YouTube channel about the Lon Chaney Phantom AND the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical. I'm looking for any experts who know the Chaney Phantom REALLY, REALLY well. I'm talking behind-the-scenes stuff, etc. I've reached out to many people on Facebook-- even in Chaney groups -- and so far everybody is ignoring me. Specifically, I want to know where the Phantom's lair and the underground lake sets were built for the Chaney Phantom. The person i REALLY want to talk to is Ron Chaney -- he doesn't seem to check his Facebook page very often :D

Thank you very much!!!

Lon Chaney has an official website: http://lonchaney.com/" target="_blank" target="_blank
I suppose that information about the production of "The Phantom of the Opera" may be found at Universal's archives.
In the English article about Lon Chaney on Wikipedia there is a list of biographies. The authors may perhaps help you with your questions.

The Milestone DVD of Phantom of the Opera has a very informative commentary track.

The Phantom's "lake" and "flooding room" would have been built inside the studio tank. They would have needed a system which could safely release/drain water, and shooting stages just don't have that ability.

Any idea where the studio tank was?
