Pre Order DVDs

Post by Danny » Wed Jun 21, 2017 8:18 am

Does anybody know if DVD releasing companies wait until there are enough "pre-orders" before they actually release the DVD?

I've noticed that "Pre-orders" are up for a mighty long time, and was wondering if this is a factor before the companies start stamping out official copies.

Thanks

That's a good question. As far as I know, the major DVD releases have a "street date" announced and then the online retailers use the business gimmick of "pre-order" to gauge how large an inventory of that title to order and stock.

Retailers like Amazon are extremely adept at managing new releases, and I often pre-order with them.
