It seems he also played King Kong in KING KONG ESCAPES (1968). Was he ever credited for his monster roles?

At first, no. Toho kept the process by which they made their monster movies a secret, but in the mid-60s they opened up and Nakajima was revealed to be the man who played Godzilla. Japanese films of his day always had all the credits just after the title card and did not list actors to roles on screen. So at the end of the actor credits you would see his name, but as he was not a famous actor, his name would not have been recognized by the general public. He played many bit parts outside of a costume, but the custom was that essentially any actor with any substantial role or lines of dialog would get their names in the credits of a feature film.earlytalkiebuffRob wrote:It seems he also played King Kong in KING KONG ESCAPES (1968).
