Mention of PRELUDE (1927), directed by Castleton Knight (sounds like his parents were chess nuts) led me to looking up his film of the Coronation, which I hadn't seen as yet due in part to my acute lack of interest in the subject matter.
I found a copy on YT clocking in at 49/07, about fifty-one minutes in cinema time. Looking it up on IMDb gives a running time of 79m. Was the film cut for US audiences, or is it just an abridged reissue?

I have a 16mm dye transfer print. It is complete. I had a television print years ago and THAT was also complete. So the youtube is obviously an anomaly.
[UPDATE] I just looked at that youtube. It is an off-air recording with a newsbreak following the ceremony footage. They made a big cut at that point before resuming the picture.
Here's a complete version, though stretched to 16x9 rendering it nearly unwatchable (also very washed out "colour"):

Thanks for the info. I seem to recall the 'Daily Mail' had an offer on the dvd, presumably at the time of one of the anniversaries or Jubilees. Certainly the widescreen upload would be a waste of time if cropped, although the ration button might solve things...
