2019 Silent Film Benefit Calendar

Post by Rodney » Tue Dec 04, 2018 9:47 am

The 2019 Silent Film Benefit Calendar is now ready for shipping!

Image

To order a copy, visit the Calendar Page at the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra's website.

I produce this calendar every year with generous contributions of photographs from collectors and institutions, as a benefit for silent film preservation.

The Silent Movies Benefit Calendar features silent film artwork and birthdays of silent-era film stars and personalities, as well as notable marriages, deaths, film openings, and other significant dates.

Total proceeds (after printing expenses) are used to benefit silent film restoration.

And if you need a present for a film fan, you can pick up a copy of our CDs Entreaty or Love, Betrayal, and Redemption as part of the same order! Just use the "Add to Cart" button.

Scandalous! What's next, bare midriffs?

I hope there's an age requirement for ordering, wouldn't want our young people to experience sinful impulses.

In the interest of conducting the necessary research to protect our impressionable youth I've placed my order. I will pay particular attention to January, one must be ever diligent for the encroachment of beezles into polite society.

Just sent in my order. Imagine, a swimsuit calendar on my fridge! The excitement is too much. I'm gonna have to take a pill and lie down!

You can thank Robert Arkus for the on-going series of Our Gang photos in these past few calendars. He sent me more! And I got several photos of Clara, but chose that one for that wink. One of my favorites has to be the Louise Fazenda, though; caught looking off-guard and completely non-glamorous but utterly charming.

I've sold 126 calendars so far, covered the printing costs, plus about $600 towards preservation, just in the first week! From now on, the entire purchase price goes to film preservation!

Do get yours soon, so you don't miss any days of Phyllis Haver's fur-trimmed off-the-shoulder outfit in January.

My friend, who is not a classic movie fan and who likes to tease me about my interest, saw the calendar today and said, "I have to admit, this is pretty cool!"

You're in luck: Thelma Hill is on the inside cover as well! And if you can tell me her birthday, I'll add it to the main calendar pages.

And we've so far raised $1300! A good start, and it's looking like I may need to do a second printing.
