PEPSI (1983)

Post by radiotelefonia » Sun Dec 30, 2018 11:04 am

I was looking for this particular commercial for years, which I used to originally see on commercial brakes of the Pink Panther Show. I did manage to find an modified (by the agency) and adulterated version (by the poster) from Uruguay, but I was able to reassemble it to its original version with the correct jingle and ending text.

The good thing about it is that it takes a movie cliché exploited to boring effect and shrinks it to its necessary minimum, specially in this reduction from the original minute. Still not really much is lost.

One of the best thing about commercials is that many of them, specially from the past, are built upon movie clichés. These clichés can usually be annoying to experience in a two hour film, but in less than an minute they can actually work fine.

This is my favorite Pepsi spot - actually a theater snipe. Transferred from 16mm:
