Semana del 27 al 31 de Mayo - Dedicada a Freddie Francis

FILMOTECA vuelve a uno de sus géneros favoritos, que también es de los preferidos de su audiencia, el horror gótico europeo. En este caso, a través de uno de los directores fundamentales: FREDDIE FRANCIS.

FRANCIS se inició en el oficio muy tempranamente y llegó al cine desde la fotografía. Se incorporó al ejército británico donde ejerció como operador de cámara y director durante siete años. Dentro de la industria cinematográfica alcanzó notoriedad primero como director de fotografía, especialidad con la que obtuvo dos premios Oscars. Dirigió su primera película en 1962 y continuó como director durante más de dos décadas, aunque no abandonó la dirección de fotografía.

FRANCIS abordó el terror gótico sobrenatural (a monstruos clásicos como Drácula o Frankenstein) y también thrillers psicológicos. Se lo asocia con la mítica productora Hammerfilms para la que realizó varios clásicos de la casa entre los años 60 y 70, pero también trabajó para su competidora, la productora Amicus, donde hizo varios de sus típicos films de antología.

FILMOTECA returns to one of his favorite genres, which is also the favorite of his audience, the European Gothic horror. In this case, through one of the fundamental directors: FREDDIE FRANCIS.

FRANCIS started in the trade very early and came to the cinema from photography. He joined the British Army where he served as camera operator and director for seven years. Within the film industry, he first achieved notoriety as director of photography, a specialty with which he won two Oscars. He directed his first film in 1962 and continued as a director for more than two decades, although he did not leave the direction of photography.

FRANCIS dealt with the supernatural gothic terror (classic monsters such as Dracula or Frankenstein) and psychological thrillers. He is associated with the mythical producer Hammerfilms for which he made several classics of the house between the 60s and 70s, but also worked for his competitor, the producer Amicus, where he made several of his typical anthology films.

This week they are devoting the week to Don Siegel, and they will include one of his TV films (yesterday, they showed THE KILLERS). The show can be seen for free in YouTube when it airs .
