Found: Wild Men of Africa (1921) "Slaying of the Hippo"

Post by db1776 » Thu Oct 31, 2019 7:18 am

A few years ago I bought a crate of 35mm reels; two of the films in that crate are "lost" films, and a couple of the reels are known from only one or maybe two copies.

I've put the first of these lost films up on ebay: a 2-reel documentary "Slaying the Hippopotamus," one of four films advertised in the "Wild Men of Africa" series. I'm not sure if there are known copies of any of the four.

One reel is okay and one is decayed.

The other lost film is a 3-reel feature with a star! More on that later.
