News paper serializations of The Unholy 3 and Phantom of the Opera?

Post by Darren Nemeth » Thu Nov 14, 2019 12:42 pm

Can someone help me find the news paper serializations of The Unholy 3 and Phantom of the Opera?

I dont have a membership for newspapers.com unfortunately.

What papers did these run in that I can also access online? If a Detroit paper getting microfilm will not be a problem.

Darren,
I counted overall at least 25 different papers for Unholy3 and @ 10 for Phantom (@ 1930).

Most often in LA Times, Ny Times, SF examiner for Unholy 3 and for Phantom primarily LA Times and the Standard Union brooklyn ny (@ 1926).

Subscription for newspapers is pretty reasonable cost if you do a ton of research.

I only use newspapers.com unless I have a lead on info then I might go to the city directly and try to get access but only have subscription to newspapers which has been great.

Newspapers.com is worth every penny - I originally got a subscription for research on Tom Tyler, discovered it is also highly valuable for my freelance writing projects. Not only do they constantly add papers but also upgrade the quality of their scans when they can.

Darren, you may want to get a subscription to this site.

This free site is also a treasure - though searching is a bit of a chore:
