How many different silent trading card sets were made in the silent era?
I've seen German cigarette cards, playing cards and other types of collector cards from the 1910s to the early 30s.
Is there a definitive list of silent actor cards?

I've been consulting http://www.moviecard.com/ for as long as I've been collecting cigarette cards, which I guess is over 20 years now. It's the most complete site on the subject that I'm aware of, and is still updated fairly frequently.

I have a nice version of this set of Player Cigarettes cards, in the collector's booklet they issued at the time.
It's from 1934, so not exactly a silent star trading card set, but of course it includes many who starred in silents. (Douglas Fairbanks, Marion Davies, Richard Dix, Janet Gaynor etc.)

Moviecard.com is a wonderful site, I have even contributed to it myself.Brooksie wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 10:11 pmI've been consulting http://www.moviecard.com/ for as long as I've been collecting cigarette cards, which I guess is over 20 years now. I know that in the case of Tom Tyler, he has appeared on quite a few of the ESCO (Chicago Exhibit Supply Company) mutoscope cards about the size of postcards from that era. There are a lot of English, German, Dutch, Spain manufactured movie cards of silent film stars too.
I think the one thing Moviecard.com lacks is a general Search function, which would be a tremendous asset to finding out which sets your favorite silent film actors appeared in.

You can search the full contents of the site fairly easily by doing a full site search through Google. So, for example, typing "mary pickford" site:http://www.moviecard.com would find all the instances of the name Mary Pickford on that particular site.
