RIP Sergio Denis

Post by radiotelefonia » Fri May 15, 2020 2:22 pm

The level of popularity of a song, any song, are neither the awards nor the accolades written by specialist. The real popularity of a song is to be sung in chorus by fans in soccer stadiums changing the original lyrics to suit to their team.

Argentine singer Sergio Denis, who died today after agonizing for more than a year after failing from a stage while performing in front of an audience (videos of this tragic moment are available), wrote and performed one of these songs.

But this song is not limited only to Argentina, since 1986... it is a universal thing. It was adopted by many sport fans from all over the world becoming universally popular even if nobody knows what are they actually singing.

You may have not heard any version of this song in the United States, but in other countries this is quite known. It is Sergio Denis' lasting legacy.

Such sad news. I found out about it after returning home this morning. I grew up listening to his music. May he rest in peace. Thank you for posting the video.
