Another director whose star rose in the 1980s with DIVA and BETTY BLUE, but whose popularity seems to have taken a severe nosedive since, at least with regard to films which made it across the channel to Britain. This may have been due in part to the decline in the sort of specialist or 'art-house' cinema which would have been a natural home for such works.

I recall seeing both at the 'Hornpipe' in Portsmouth, a venue which moved a few years later before closing due to the economics of running such a place.
